Christopher J. McCavitt
Christopher J. McCavitt is a Managing Director based in Exiger’s New York office, where he focuses on complex global investigations related to fraud, corruption and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) violations. He brings Exiger 20 years of investigative experience with special expertise in asset tracing, business intelligence and litigation support. In addition, he has a track record of working successfully in high-risk emerging markets and applying innovative technologies to the investigative process.
Prior to joining Exiger, Chris served for two years as Managing Director of Kroll. Most recently, he was co-leader of a large Foreign Corporate Practices Act (FCPA) inquiry in Latin America, responsible for spearheading the development and execution of the investigative strategy. He also designed the global search strategy for a team focused on recovering assets misappropriated by executives of large Brazilian corporation and led a team that partnered with an insurance underwriter to pioneer a cyber-security assessment program. In a concurrent role, as North American Director of Research, he was responsible for building a business intelligence platform and incorporating cutting-edge technologies into Kroll’s due diligence research.
Chris had previously worked at Kroll for 2006 to 2012, initially as a senior analyst and later as Director of Research, New York. In the latter role, he led a team of 25+ investigators working around the globe and managed internal investigations regarding the collapse of a European bank, a Paris-based executive allegedly taking kickbacks in Asia, and a South Korean company suspected of doing business in North Korea.
In between his two stints at Kroll, Chris was a senior director at FTI, supervising, for more than 16 months, a complex fraud assignment concerning allegations related to mortgage-backed securities.
Chris began his investigative career at the Ackerman Group in Miami and honed his skills as he moved up the firm’s ranks over a 12-year period. Before joining Kroll, he founded his own consulting, business intelligence and investigative firms in Florida and New York.
